Co-founder of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company, Ursula Laeubli died on the 14th April 2011. We have set up this page for those who knew her through the company and who wish to share their memories.
She was and will always be our inspiration. We loved her and we will go on loving her spirit. We are terribly sad to lose her and very joyful to have had the privilege to have been her colleagues and friends.
Long time friend of Ursula, Emily Welther will perform her dance solo 'It Just Might Be Enough' in Derry on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st December 2011.
It is inspired by the ideas and images of co-founder of Echo Echo, Ursula Laeubli, gathered during the months shortly before she died. At times humourous, at times breath-taking, "It Just Might Be Enough" was created with and dedicated to the beautiful person, Ursula.

It's taken me a year to feel like I want to share my thoughts on this site. Thinking of her yesterday on her anniversary made me look back at something I wrote about her not long after she died. I wrote these words while flying over the awesome mountains of Switzerland... she was steady, earthy yet fiery and wild- a contradiction that drew people to her with a somewhat magnetic force. She was intimidating yet welcoming and her thoughts and presence changed my way. Like a teachers she guided others inquiring for a deeper understanding of self, of mind, body and life. Now memories and efforts to be present and accepting of self, yet challenging of self will remain with me. Now, opening up new possibilities through her legacy. Adventure, challenge, acceptance, love, presence, discipline, pleasure. RIP Ursula and thank you xx

I first met Ursula in 2004 when she became my Dance teacher for a Community & Performing Arts programme. Her passion and energy was evident on that first day and that continued every single day of her teaching. Her openness, honesty, love and gracefullness will be ever present and will live on forever. A beautiful spirit. Lots of love to you always Ursula.

I also worked on 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in 2000. To me Ursula had a vision of individual movement with the main cast. I was struck by her dynamic and creative approach and also her genuine warmth.

Just heard today of Ursula's death last April. Disbelief and sorrow are the two emotions I feel at the loss of this amazing person. We collaborated in a production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in Letterkenny in January 2000 and it was an education to watch her work with the cast over three months rehearsals. Ursula had the gift of meeting people where they are, developing a shared artistic vision and supporting everyone in the journey there. Working with Ursula changed people's lives in profound ways. Condolences to her loved ones.

I met Ursula in the Israel contact festival in 2003, I think. We performed a small duet then and later on she invited me to lead a mixed ability workshop in Derry. We lead together 2 or 3 workshops the following years and made another duet - "Translation". I'm writing this to share my sadness and to say she echo still and will keep echo.
